Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The Mathematics and Science Division of Babson College invites applicants for an adjunct position starting in September 2015. The successful candidates will teach two sections of either QTM 1000 or QTM 1010, our introductory sequence that covers quantitative methods for undergraduate business students. While this appointment is specifically for the Fall semester of 2015, there is the potential to continue in future terms.

QTM 1000 includes most topics from a first course in business statistics, some elementary calculus and a brief unit on the mathematics of finance. QTM 1010 has more advanced topics in statistics, including multiple regression and model building, and some topics from operations research. Instructors will have access to many resources to help teach the course and a detailed syllabus is provided. Software applications including Excel and Minitab are used extensively in both courses.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding teaching record, enthusiasm for developing and delivering quantitative methods courses for undergraduate business students, and an interest in and comfort with teaching using examples and applications. A master’s degree in an appropriate quantitative discipline, or an MBA with extensive quantitative experience, is the minimum academic requirement.

The sections currently available meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings 8 AM – 11:20 AM, but there is some flexibility if an excellent candidate has other times available. This position would be appropriate for a graduate student, postdoc, or lecturer looking for additional teaching opportunities.
